Mark Shurtleff

SHURTLEFF, Charles "Mark" With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles "Mark" Shurtleff on January 12, 2025, at the age of 68. Mark, born in Paris, Texas, lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love, leaving an indelible impression on all who knew him. A proud graduate of Lake Highlands High School and the University of Texas at Dallas, Mark enjoyed a successful 35-year career in the food sales industry. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was known for his deep appreciation for travel, particularly throughout Texas and the American Southwest. Mark loved discovering unique and quirky treasures at antique stores and flea markets, always finding joy in the unexpected. Mark's greatest passion was spending time with the people and animals he loved. Whether enjoying the company of his dear friends and family or sharing his home with his beloved dogs, he made every moment special. His humor, warmth, and adventurous spirit brought people together and created cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Christopher Shurtleff, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, of Allen, Texas; his two grandchildren, Knox (8) and Sage (5), who were the light of his life; and his longtime partner, Jennifer Stuart, who shared in his love of life. Mark will be remembered for his kind heart and love of the simple joys in life, his ability to make others laugh and smile, and his adventurous spirit. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In honor of Mark's appreciation for history, learning and storytelling, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his honor to PBS/KERA. "It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end"
